Cherry Cream Cheese Danishes Recipe

  • Author: Victoria

Ingredients

Scale

  • 1 package of puff pastry (thawed)
  • 8 oz cream cheese (softened)
  • 1/4 cup sugar
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1 cup cherry pie filling
  • 1 egg (beaten, for egg wash)
  • Powdered sugar (for dusting)

Instructions

  1. Preheat the Oven: Begin by preheating your oven to 375°F (190°C). This ensures your pastries bake evenly.
  2. Prepare the Puff Pastry: Roll out the thawed puff pastry on a lightly floured surface. Cut the pastry into squares, each approximately 4×4 inches.
  3. Make the Cream Cheese Filling: In a medium-sized bowl, mix together the softened cream cheese, sugar, and vanilla extract until smooth and creamy.
  4. Assemble the Danishes:

    • Place a spoonful of the cream cheese mixture in the center of each pastry square.
    • Top the cream cheese with a spoonful of cherry pie filling.

  5. Fold the Pastry: Gently fold the corners of each pastry square over the filling, pressing down lightly to seal.
  6. Egg Wash: Lightly brush the tops of each pastry with the beaten egg. This will give them a beautiful golden-brown finish as they bake.
  7. Bake: Arrange the pastries on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper. Bake in the preheated oven for 20-25 minutes, or until they are puffed and golden brown.
  8. Cool and Dust: Allow the danishes to cool slightly on a wire rack. Before serving, dust them with powdered sugar for an added touch of sweetness.
