Ingredients
Scale
- 1 package of puff pastry (thawed)
- 8 oz cream cheese (softened)
- 1/4 cup sugar
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- 1 cup cherry pie filling
- 1 egg (beaten, for egg wash)
- Powdered sugar (for dusting)
Instructions
- Preheat the Oven: Begin by preheating your oven to 375°F (190°C). This ensures your pastries bake evenly.
- Prepare the Puff Pastry: Roll out the thawed puff pastry on a lightly floured surface. Cut the pastry into squares, each approximately 4×4 inches.
- Make the Cream Cheese Filling: In a medium-sized bowl, mix together the softened cream cheese, sugar, and vanilla extract until smooth and creamy.
- Assemble the Danishes:
- Place a spoonful of the cream cheese mixture in the center of each pastry square.
- Top the cream cheese with a spoonful of cherry pie filling.
- Fold the Pastry: Gently fold the corners of each pastry square over the filling, pressing down lightly to seal.
- Egg Wash: Lightly brush the tops of each pastry with the beaten egg. This will give them a beautiful golden-brown finish as they bake.
- Bake: Arrange the pastries on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper. Bake in the preheated oven for 20-25 minutes, or until they are puffed and golden brown.
- Cool and Dust: Allow the danishes to cool slightly on a wire rack. Before serving, dust them with powdered sugar for an added touch of sweetness.
