  • 1 cup imitation crab meat (or cooked chicken)

  • 1 tsp sriracha (optional)
  • 2 sheets nori, cut into strips
  • Sesame seeds for garnish

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Rice

    • Rinse the sushi rice under cold water until the water runs clear. This step is crucial to remove excess starch and achieve the perfect texture.
    • In a pot, combine the rice and water. Bring to a boil.
    • Reduce the heat, cover, and simmer for 15 minutes.
    • Remove from heat and let it sit for 10 minutes. This allows the rice to absorb any remaining moisture and achieve the desired fluffiness.

  2. Prepare the Spicy Mayo

    • In a small bowl, mix the mayo and sriracha (if using). This will create a creamy and spicy topping that complements the bowl’s flavors.

  3. Assemble the Bowl

    • In a serving bowl, layer the cooked rice as the base.
    • Arrange the sliced avocado, cucumber, grated carrot, and imitation crab meat (or cooked chicken) on top of the rice.

  4. Add the Finishing Touches

    • Drizzle the spicy mayo over the top of the bowl.
    • Add nori strips for a classic sushi flavor and sprinkle with sesame seeds for a bit of crunch and nuttiness.

  5. Serve
