Preparation
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and position a rack in the middle.
- Peel, core, and slice 5–6 apples into ¼-inch wedges, then toss with lemon juice, sugar, cinnamon, nutmeg, and cornstarch until evenly coated.
- In a bowl, combine oats, flour, brown sugar, cinnamon, and salt. Cut cold butter into cubes and toss until mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
- Spread the apple filling in a greased baking dish, then sprinkle the oat crumble topping over it.
- Bake for 30–35 minutes, until the topping is crisp and golden brown and the apple juices bubble.
- Let the crumble rest 10 minutes to thicken juices, then scoop into bowls.
